Every Lansing student deserves the opportunity to thrive.

I’m a Lansing parent, scientist, community advocate, and lifelong public servant. I’m running for Lansing School Board because I believe every student deserves equitable opportunities to learn, grow, and discover what comes next.
I want to help build a school community where students have access to strong academics, meaningful enrichment, athletics, libraries, hands-on learning, and pathways to both college and careers.
I’ve been here, I’m invested in Lansing, and I’m here to stay.

Why the School Board Matters
The role of a school board member is important in determining the vision and direction of public education in the District. Evaluating the superintendent’s performance and the district’s progress toward goals. This includes hiring, evaluating and working in collaboration with the Superintendent. Budget oversight is critical as in advocating and representing the School District.
Heidi Frei is a Lansing parent, scientist, public servant, and community advocate who has spent more than two decades solving complex problems, managing budgets, working in collaboration with stakeholders, leading teams, and preparing people for high-skill careers.
As a parent and volunteer in the Lansing School District, Heidi has seen firsthand the strengths of our schools and the opportunities to make them even better. Her professional experience in forestry, STEM, wildland firefighting, data analysis, and technical training gives her a unique perspective on how we can prepare Lansing students for the future.
